Biography

Dr. Matthew’s research focuses on employing environmental (e)DNA to rapidly assess critically endangered crocodilians and pygmy hippos in West African Protected Areas. The goal of this project is to develop a low-cost, time-efficient detection and monitoring protocol to better focus conservation efforts for these species. Matthew is a fellow with the FIU Tropical Conservation Institute. Matthew received his Ph.D. from the University of Florida in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation in 2013
